I just wrote a nice post to you on this comments thingy and it got eaten! Aargh. Anyway, the guy sounds great. Although this: "was a Greek major and he's studied Sanskrit and taken swing dance lessons and even tried to learn to play the bagpipes and he has struck me as considerate and kind and a bit shy yet completely engaging" makes him sound way too good to be true. (But maybe that's just me feeling like an underachiever.) Hope it works out. I heard about the Queensryche show and wondered if you'd be going. I still think "Operation Mindcrime" is one of the best albums of all time. Don't know why I don't get into much of their other stuff. (Never liked "Silent Lucidity.")

Aargh! I've had whole D'land entries eaten up, so I know just what you mean - how frustrating! Believe me, I know he sounds too good to be true, which is why I'm half-convinced I'll never hear back from him! And believe me, I also felt like an underachiever myself in comparison! But I hope it works out too. And yes, Mindcrime will always be one of my absolute favorite albums, even when I'm 85. I like but don't love "Silent Lucidity" but Empire and Promised Land are great CDs nonetheless, perhaps you ought to give them another try. Do you listen to Dream Theater at all?

There's a lot of Queensryche I should give a try, but I'd probably start with earlier stuff like The Warning and Rage for Order. I used to have their first EP, Queens of the Reich (?) but it sounded too much like a Maiden rip-off for me. I've never listened to Dream Theater, but have heard many people say good things about them. Wasn't Fates Warning at that concert you went to? I had friends who absolutely loved them, but I could never get into it. They're another band I have to try. (And they have a singer from Connecticut too!)
